Cooking With Breastmilk
Are you a mommy who has an oversupply but cringes at the thought of wasting any of your milk? Whether you nurse, pump, (or both!), it is inevitably a full-time job and takes a hefty amount of time and work. Rather than tossing milk that’s soon-to-expire or simply have no room for, try cooking with it! It’s a great way to add extra nutrition for your baby as they enter and enjoy their world of solid foods.
I have experimented with several recipes that utilize breastmilk, and I’m going to highlight our family favorites and go-tos. Feel free to click for the full recipes, or simply take the ideas and tailor them to your family’s needs and tastebuds.
Healthy ideas for cooking with breastmilk:
- Pumpkin French toast (cut into shapes, sticks, or whole!)
- Banana spinach breastmilk smoothies
- Oatmeal with cinnamon, breastmilk, and banana (peanut butter/almond butter is great too!)
- Creamy Breastmilk Pumpkin Pasta
- Pancakes
- Breastmilk popsicles! (Plain or with fruit added for fun and color)
- Cereal (self-explanatory 🥣)
- Vanilla Breastmilk Frosting (yup! For all your favorite cupcakes, muffins, etc.)
